UA Chooses New Director of University of Alabama Press

Linda Manning, director of Northern Illinois University Press, has been appointed director of The University of Alabama Press starting Aug. 1. She replaces interim director Daniel Waterman. The University of Alabama Press is the only academic press in the state.

Noted Cuban Poet Omar Perez to Visit UA

Omar Pérez, a highly accomplished Cuban poet, musician, artist and translator, visits The University of Alabama campus Oct. 20-24. The featured event is a poetry reading and musical exploration Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jemison Mansion in downtown Tuscaloosa.

UA’s Cooper to Participate in Miami Book Fair with Prominent Photographer

Photographer Chip Cooper, a faculty member in The University of Alabama’s College of Arts and Sciences, will participate in the Miami Book Fair International this month alongside a Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer noted for photographing celebrities.

Montgomery First Stop for Coretta Scott King Biography Tour, Release of UA Press’ Book Nears

Bernice A. King will tour the state to promote a biography on her mother, Coretta Scott King. The tour’s first stop is April 28 at Alabama State University in Montgomery.
