A pioneer and leading scholar in the field of the political economy of terrorism, Dr. Walt Enders, professor of economics in The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce, is the 2015 recipient of one of the highest honors the University bestows on its faculty— the Burnum Distinguished Faculty Award.

Lecturer at UA to Discuss the Defeat of Shining Path in Peru

he University of Alabama’s department of history invites the public to hear Dr. Jorge Ortiz-Sotelo, chairman of the Peruvian Institute of Politics and Economics, deliver a lecture titled “Defeating the Shining Path: A Lesson in Combating Terrorism in Peru” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26 in 205 Gorgas Library. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Psychologist for UA’s Basowitz Lecture to Speak on Terror, Intergroup Violence

Dr. James Sidanius, a professor in the departments of psychology and African and African American studies at Harvard University, will deliver the annual Harold Basowitz Memorial Lecture at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, in room 208 of Gordon Palmer Hall at The University of Alabama.
