The University of Alabama will hold its spring commencement ceremonies Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 in Coleman Coliseum on the UA campus. Three University-wide commencement ceremonies will be held this year, at 6 p.m., Friday, May 4 and at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5, to award degrees.

John Paul Stevens, retired associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, will visit The University of Alabama School of Law Wednesday, Nov. 16, to present the fall Albritton Lecture.

Deadline Approaching for Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction
The deadline for authors and publishers to enter a novel to win the Harper Lee Prize for Legal Fiction is April 8. The prize, created by the ABA Journal and the UA School of Law, will be given annually to a book-length work of fiction that best exemplifies the role of lawyers in society, and their power to effect change.

Arthur N. Read, general counsel for Friends of Farmworkers, Inc., a legal services provider in Philadelphia, has been awarded the 2007 Morris Dees Justice Award, given by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP & Affiliates and The University of Alabama School of Law. Former President of Israeli Supreme Court to Speak at UA School of Law
