We here in Tuscaloosa have been affected by the Hurricane in one of the most profound of ways. We are now "home" to 465+ evacuees from mostly New Orleans, Louisiana as well as Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi. Since Saturday afternoon we are the American Red Cross relief shelter for people who were able to get out before the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

UA Engineering Students Develop Toys for RISE Center
University of Alabama senior mechanical engineering students have designed and built ride-on toys for children who have motor skill limitations and attend the RISE Program at the Stallings Center. Besides giving the children toys to ride, the toys will provide these children with experience in driving electronic devices and help prepare them for electric wheelchairs sooner.

So students in The University of Alabama’s Master of Business Administration Program are rolling up their sleeves and helping fill the void by sharing their business knowledge with West Alabama not-for-profit organizations. The result is free consulting services to help solve problems and encourage growth in the business community.
UA Taking Part in Food Drive Against Auburn
The 11th annual Beat Auburn Beat Hunger food drive and collection contest between The University of Alabama and Auburn University will run through Nov. 18, with donations of canned and nonperishable food being accepted for the West Alabama Food Bank.
