Students from The University of Alabama won a number of awards from the Society of Professional Journalists’ annual contest.
The University of Alabama’s Dr. Jason Black has been recognized for his outstanding work by the Southern States Communication Association.
Dr. Mark Nelson has been named dean of the College of Communication and Information Sciences at The University of Alabama. Nelson has served as vice president for student affairs and vice provost for academic affairs at UA since 2008 and has been a member of the College of Communication and Information Sciences’ faculty for more than 20 years.
Recipients of the 2014 Premier Awards – the top individual honors for scholarship, leadership and service at The University of Alabama – were announced at a recent presentation dinner. The 2014 UA Premier Award recipients will also be recognized at UA during Honors Week.
University of Alabama journalism senior and Crimson White culture editor Abbey Crain was named 2013 College Journalist of the Year, and the newspaper won the Best Public Service award in the Southeastern Journalism Conference’s annual “Best of the South” contest, at the recent SEJC convention in Lafayette, La.
