During May, student members of The University of Alabama’s University Fellows Experience perform a variety of community-centered projects and initiatives in Marion as a part of their freshman year Black Belt Experience.

About 35 students and 10 student leaders from The University of Alabama’s Honors College will perform hands-on service projects in downtown Marion from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Nov. 14. Projects include painting and gardening as well as general maintenance. Once the students finish their work, the student leaders will lead discussion about the day’s events in small groups.
About 125 students and 25 student leaders from The University of Alabama Honors College will perform service projects from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17 in in Marion as part of the 57 Miles Project.
The University of Alabama Honors College will host a photography exhibit beginning Saturday, Oct. 5, at the Smith Building, 301 Washington St. in Marion, Alabama.
The University of Alabama’s Honors College, in partnership with the Do Good Fund, will host an opening reception for the exhibition “Eternal Moments: Photographs of the South” Friday, May 15, in Marion, as part of the 57 Miles Initiative.
The University of Alabama’s Honors College is offering a Young Voices Conference for about 50 high school students from Francis Marion, Pickens and Greensboro high schools. The conference will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at UA’s Russell Hall.
University of Alabama students will travel to Marion for Engineering Day from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Francis Marion High School. The event is designed to encourage high school students’ interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
About 40 freshmen and 10 student leaders from The University of Alabama will perform service projects at Francis Marion High School in Marion from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. The projects include painting the interior of the main entrance, landscaping the grounds and cleaning classrooms.
About 50 freshmen and 10 student leaders from The University of Alabama will perform service projects in Marion from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. The projects include cleaning storefronts, landscaping around the town square and removing trash from empty buildings.
The University of Alabama’s 57 Miles initiative and The College of Engineering will host Engineering Day for high school students from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Francis Marion High School in Perry County.
