New Scholarship Established in UA School of Law
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- A new scholarship honoring Birmingham attorney James E. “Red” Clark has been established at The University of Alabama School of Law.

The James E. “Red” Clark Endowed Scholarship is the latest addition to more than 100 endowed scholarships offered to students at the UA Law School.

Friends and family of Clark gathered at a luncheon recently to celebrate the new scholarship. At the event, the Law School presented Clark with a framed resolution outlining his contribution to the legal profession.

A 1941 graduate of the UA Law School, Clark has distinguished his more than 60-year career by serving as president of the Alabama State Bar, president of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He also served on the board of directors of the UA Law School Foundation.

Clark began his career as an insurance claims adjuster, then joined the insurance firm of London & Yancey, which later became London, Yancey, Clark & Allen. He is currently Of Counsel to the Birmingham firm of Spain & Gillon LLC.

The scholarship will be established through an anonymous gift valued at $35,000. The proceeds of the gift will be administered by the UA Law School Foundation to provide scholarships to deserving students.
