UA Geography Professor Receives Research
Honors Award
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Dr. Gerald R. Webster, professor of geography
at The University of Alabama, recently received the Research Honors
Award from the Southeastern Division Association of American Geographers
(SEDAAG).
Webster's research focuses on political geography, Southern politics
and electoral districting. He is nationally recognized as one of
the top authorities on the geography of American politics and government,
and as a leading expert on the political geography of the South.
He has offered expert testimony in court numerous times, including
before the Supreme Court on the issue of electoral redistricting.
Webster has authored or co-authored more than 70 articles, textbook
chapters, book reviews and monographs. His work has been featured
in a range of journals, including Professional Geographer, Journal
of Geography, Political Geography, Geographical Review, Growth and
Change, Government and Policy, Social Science Quarterly, Social
Science Journal, Cities, Historical Geography, Southeastern Geographer
and others. He has also served as guest editor and co-guest editor
for Southeastern Geographer.
