UA aims to increase foreign-student enrollment amid slight decline
Tuscaloosa News – Nov. 14
…The University of Alabama mirrored the national trend in fall 2006, though fewer international students enrolled there this fall. UA officials say they expect efforts to recruit more students from foreign countries to pay off next year. Tuesday, the university announced an agreement with Ocean University China that would allow its students to earn bachelor’s and graduate degrees from UA. Students here could study for a semester at Ocean University, and other joint programs are under discussion…

Alabama wins Alzheimer award

…The Alabama Department of Senior Services’ REACH Intervention Project is the winner of the 2007 Rosalynn Carter Leadership in Caregiving Award. The award, given by the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI), recognizes innovative partnerships between community organizations and caregiving researchers…The Alabama REACH Intervention Project is a partnership between the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS) and the University of Alabama’s Center for Mental Health and Aging. REACH, which stands for Resources for Enhancing Alzheimer’s Caregiver Health, is a support program designed to alleviate stress for those who care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s and related dementia…

Ala. Gov. Grants Pilot Program on School Bus Seat Belts

..The Study Group awarded a grant of nearly $316,000 to The University of Alabama's University Transportation Center for Alabama. The three-year grant will fund a pilot program to implement and research the Study Group's recommendations, which include purchasing 12 new buses equipped with seat belts and teaching students how to properly wear and adjust the seat belts…

CrimsonRide to change schedule during Thanksgiving break

CrimsonRide and Transportation Services will make adjustments to the CrimsonRide schedule during Thanksgiving break. On Nov. 21 and 25, there will be on-demand transportation services offered by 348-RIDE from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. From Nov. 22 to 24, there will be no transportation services offered. During this time, people can park in any zone or non-restricted parking spaces. Parking in handicapped spaces or on yellow curbs will not be allowed. Regular parking regulations will resume at 7 a.m. on Nov. 26.
