Recruiting takes on regional flair

"It is a new element to our industrial recruitment efforts," said William Stewart, political science professor emeritus at the University of Alabama . "It's a bigger scale now." Recruitment efforts in Alabama typically have been a one-state affair, but recent projects that can benefit neighboring states or require government cooperation at various levels have changed that, he said. Stewart has studied the past 50 years of the state's industrial recruitment efforts.

Bishop gets standing ovation from GOP

…University of Alabama political scientist William Stewart said Bishop’s blow has given Alabama “a bad image" at the same time the governor is in France trying to recruit industry. “I’m surprised he’s being treated like a hero," said Stewart, whose father served in the Alabama House for eight years.
