University of Alabama student Derrick Gleaton rehearses at the Moody Music Building on Tuesday for a concert later that night. The concert was being directed by UA music professor Daniel Bernard Roumain, who is also a hip-hop violinist and composer. The piece, which Roumain wrote, commemorates the heroism of the desegregation of the university through people such as Vivian Malone Jones and James Hood. The composition is a multimedia piece, including soloists, a string orchestra and an original video, performed by Roumain and UA’s Huxford Symphony Orchestra.
