UA Women's Wheelchair Basketball Headed for Nationals

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will play against No. 6 Dallas Lady Mavericks in the first round of the Women’s National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament Thursday, Feb. 28 at 11:30 a.m. in Champaign, Ill.

The No. 3 Crimson Tide finished the regular season at 29-2 and is one of the favorites this year to advance to the finals of the National Championship Tournament. The Alabama team competes in the women’s division of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association and has finished in the top five at the National Championship Tournament for the last three years in a row and has advanced to the Final Four in two of the last three years.

The University of Alabama is one of only three universities in the country that has both a men’s and women’s collegiate wheelchair basketball program and is the only university in the Southeast to field wheelchair athletic teams.
