TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The University of Alabama Alliance for Women of Color, a newly formed group on campus, will hold a meeting open to all faculty, staff and students on Friday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Heritage Room.

The meeting will consist of a panel of representatives from across the campus speaking on the diversity initiatives for women and communities of color at the University.

This meeting will provide an opportunity to hear and discuss what efforts each of the colleges and departments are making to reach various groups at UA. Representatives will present current academic, recruiting and outreach strategies that are being employed to achieve a campus that establishes a framework for inclusiveness.

The UA Alliance for Women of Color seeks to play a vital role in the advancement of the University through the provision of mentoring for women of color within the campus community. The Alliance for Women of Color recognizes that women of color across lines of race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, class, sexual orientation, disability, and age face unique issues in their professional and academic lives.
