All students are invited to a memorial service today to honor the following former UA students: Nicolas Carlson Cyr, Rodney Lane Lord, Bradley “Brad” Jamar Morris, Malcolm Isiah Stephen, Jackson “Jack” Tyler Tucker, Kenneth Lee Ulmer and Joseph Andrew “Drew” Wallace. The service will be held from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Denny Chimes.

Join the Writing Center and University Libraries for the first-ever Great Campus Write-In, to be held Friday, April 15, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gorgas Library Learning Commons. The marathon-writing event is targeted toward undergraduate and graduate students who are engaged in writing during the latter part of the semester. This event offers an opportunity for students to sit and work through the writing process, with writing tutors and librarians in the room to provide support and snacks to those who stop by. The Capstone Creed, a pledge made at convocation by first-year students at the start of the academic year, has been revised. The updated version reflects the importance of promoting equity and inclusion on campus.


Applications are still available for membership in Al’s Pals, a program in which members serve as mentors to students in local elementary schools. Applicant interviews have started and will continue through April 22.

Officer applications for UA’s Be the Match on Campus organization are due April 18 at noon. Members raise awareness of the national bone-marrow registry by hosting drives and other events.


Are you interested in being a volunteer baby sitter for students with children during the summer or fall 2016 semesters? Sitters for Service will hold information sessions on April 19 and April 20 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in 3104 Ferguson Student Center. More information: Stephanie Charles at
