First CAF Instrumentation Experts Named at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The Central Analytical Facility at The University of Alabama has named Drs. Karen T. Henry and Robert A. Morris as the first CAF Instrumentation Experts.

Henry earned a doctorate in 2010 in metallurgical and materials engineering under the direction of Dr. Gregory B. Thompson, UA associate professor of metallurgical and materials engineering.  Her dissertation was on analytical microanalysis techniques for magnetic nanostructures.

Morris earned a master’s degree in metallurgical and materials engineering from UA in 2008. Morris also earned a doctorate in metallurgical and materials engineering in 2010 under Thompson’s direction. His dissertation research involved characterizing the microstructures and phase transformation pathways in tantalum carbides.
