Gubernatorial Debate to Air on APT, APR, al.com and C-Span Sept. 16

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The debate between gubernatorial candidates Dr. Robert Bentley and Commissioner Ron Sparks on The University of Alabama campus Thursday, Sept. 16 will be broadcast live from 7-8 p.m. on Alabama Public Television, Alabama Public Radio, al.com and C-Span.

NPR News national correspondent and UA graduate Debbie Elliot will serve as moderator.

The debate is the first of two hosted by the Student Government Associations at The University of Alabama and Auburn University and the League of Women Voters of Alabama. The second debate will be at 7 p.m., Oct. 19 at Auburn.

In addition to the UA and Auburn SGAs and the League of Women Voters, both debates will be sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, the Auburn Chamber of Commerce and the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program, known as ADAP.

Tickets for the Sept. 16 debate have been distributed to UA students on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets will not be available at the door, and no tickets will be offered to the general public.

The League of Women Voters is a non-partisan political organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government.
