TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –The University of Alabama Community Service Center will host its annual Volunteer Expo on Thursday, Sept. 2,  from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Ferguson Center, second floor, to link nonprofit organizations with students.

The event is designed to educate students about the importance of community involvement.  Students will be able to collect informational materials from more than 15 local and national volunteer agencies and discuss various service projects with agency representatives.

“The Volunteer Expo is a great way for students to learn more about issues in the Tuscaloosa area,” said Hillary Moore, a student director at the CSC. “From working with underprivileged students to Habitat for Humanity, there are many ways for students to give back to the community.”

The CSC coordinates events with nonprofit organizations throughout the year. Students who worked with the CSC accounted for more than 360,000 service hours in regional, national and international communities last year.

To learn more about service projects and opportunities to volunteer, students can request information from the CSC office in 346 Ferguson Center.
