Recreation Center Sponsors Events for UA Lacrosse, Wheelchair Basketball, Hockey and Ultimate Frisbee Teams

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The University of Alabama Student Recreation Center is sponsoring several events this weekend, including men’s and women’s lacrosse, wheelchair basketball, hockey and ultimate Frisbee.

On Saturday, Feb. 27, the UA Women’s Lacrosse Team will play three games, facing Kennesaw State at 10:30 a.m., Millsaps at 1:30 p.m. and Samford at 4:30 p.m. The undefeated Crimson Tide hopes to end Saturday with a 5-0 record. The UA Men’s Lacrosse Team will play Georgia Southern on Friday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at the UA Student Recreation Center Fields Complex and admission is free.  The UA men are looking to extend their two-game win streak after losing their season opener to Vanderbilt and being rained out against Ole Miss. On Saturday, Feb. 27, the UA Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team will host the Alabama Invitational Tournament. The UA team has lost only one game all season and look to be the favorite entering the tournament. The team will be fresh off their trip to Japan for the Osaka Cup Championships, which took place Feb., 16-21. For more information, go to www.uads.ua.edu

From Feb. 26-29, the UA Sport Club Men’s Hockey Team will host the 2010 Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference Championships at the Pelham Civic Complex in Pelham. The 10-team tournament will decide the champion of the Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference. Last year’s champion, Tennessee, will be joined by Florida, Arkansas, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Alabama, along with newcomers Vanderbilt and Ole Miss. Ticket prices are $10 for a day pass or $20 for a tournament pass and are only available at the gate. For more information, go to www.bamahockey.net

The UA Sport Club Men’s Ultimate Frisbee Team will host the fourth annual T-Town Throwdown Ultimate Frisbee Tournament Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 27-28, at the Student Recreation Center Fields Complex.
