TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University Union is presenting a hair show exhibition called “My Hair My Expression” at The University of Alabama Nov. 4-5.

The event will begin with an information fair on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m. in the Ferguson Center lobby and will continue with a series of image and wellness workshops from 5-8 p.m.

On Thursday, Nov. 5, at 8 p.m., a hair show will feature UA students and hairstyles by cosmetology students from Shelton State Community College and the Aveda Institute.

“The goal of the conference is to showcase a new form of cultural art found in the cosmetology profession that is often overlooked and restricted,” said Alethea Raby, coordinator for show. “The conference has been designed to incorporate a broad spectrum of educational and artistic components.”

The event will also focus on Tuscaloosa and Birmingham professional stylists with special performances by the UA Taiko Drummers and the African-American Gospel Choir. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature participants and sponsors from across the state.  Local vendors will also be on site to offer services and free giveaways.
