UA Wheelchair Basketball Kicks Off Season, Holds Fundraiser

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama wheelchair basketball teams will kick off their season this weekend with the Eagle Classic.  All games will be played at the University Recreation Center and admission is free.Wheelchair athletics 09

The UA men and women will play two games on Friday, Oct. 30, with the men’s game starting at 6 p.m. and the women’s game starting at 7:30 p.m.  Both teams will play against the Lakeshore Foundation.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the men’s and women’s teams will play another two games against the Shepherd Center with the women beginning at 3:30 p.m. and the men beginning at 5 p.m.

Wilhagan’s Sports Bar in downtown Tuscaloosa will hold “wheelchair basketball night” on Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The cover charge is $5 with proceeds benefiting the UA Men’s and Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Teams.  There will be live music from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will also feature a silent auction of UA sports memorabilia, including signed national championship basketballs from the women’s wheelchair basketball team, memorabilia from other sports teams and gift certificates.
