Housing, New Home Construction Reports Available on UA Center’s Web Site

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The August housing report and the August report on new housing construction are available on the Alabama Center for Real Estate Web site. ACRE is a research and service component of the Culverhouse College of Commerce at The University of Alabama.
The Alabama Housing Report, which tracks total home sales on a monthly basis, shows Alabama home sales for August 2009 down 12.5 percent from July, and down 12.7 percent from August 2008. The complete report can be found at http://acre.cba.ua.edu.housing_report.php.
New home construction also decreased slightly in August 2009 compared to July by 5.1 percent, and was 5.1 percent behind August 2008. The complete New Construction Report can be found at http://acre.cba.ua.edu/pdfs/construction_statistics/New%20Construction%20Report.pdf.
