Student Leaders Receive Boys State Scholarships at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama recently hosted some 600 students at the 2009 American Legion Boys State convention and as part of the event several scholarships were given to outstanding participants.
UA awarded four, one-year scholarships to rising high school seniors who attended the conference that was held on campus this month.
Scholarship recipients included:
The Judge O.L. “Pete” Johnson Scholarship for $2,000 was awarded to Daniel P. Moore of Berry, the son of W.M. Scott and Elizabeth Moore.
The Lewis McCray Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Boys State Lt. Gov. Owen Kilmury of Ardmore, the son of Mark and Kathy Smedley.
The Cliff Harper Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Boys State Gov. T.K. Scott of Columbia, the son of Kent Scott and Tami Johnson.
The Charles P. Hayes Scholarship for $1,000 was awarded to Maxwell Robert Jones of Tallassee, the son of Robert and Shannon Jones.
