Tuscaloosa fourth in home price increases

Tuscaloosa ranked No. 4 in the nation for the strongest rise in home prices in 2008, one of four Alabama metropolitan areas to make the top 10 in a federal report released this week…Robert Brooks, an economics and finance professor at the University of Alabama, said the Tuscaloosa housing market, which comprises Tuscaloosa County and its municipalities, did well because of the area’s diversity of industry and fiscally well-run local government. “Look at the financial management of Tuscaloosa County compared with Jefferson County up the road. It is quite a contrast,” he said…
Regions to continue golf sponsorship

Group fights binge drinking with humor
