TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Photographs featuring the creative work of Greene County youth taking part in the Black Belt 100 Lenses project through The University of Alabama will be on display in Eutaw at the William McKinley Branch Courthouse starting Thursday, July 17 with an opening reception from 5-7 p.m.

The project, run by the Black Belt Community Foundation and the UA Center for Community-Based Partnerships, gives middle and high school students the chance to explore and document the culture of their communities through photography.

Local artist Marvin Oliver will also be exhibiting artwork inspired by the students’ photographs.

Greene County students are the second group to participate in the Black Belt 100 Lenses project, following Sumter County students who took part last year. The program will be carried out in other counties in the Black Belt Community Foundation service area to include students in Bullock, Choctaw, Dallas, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens and Wilcox Counties.

The public is invited to attend the opening reception for the exhibit that will be on display to Aug. 15.
