The University of Alabama’s 12 inaugural Coca-Cola First-Generation Scholars were honored today in an on-campus ceremony. The 12 students are the first in a series of UA students who will receive $5,000 scholarships each year for four years, courtesy the
Coca-Cola First Generation Scholarship program. The Coca-Cola Foundation recently made a scholarship donation of $1 million to The University of Alabama’s “Our Students. Our Future.” campaign. After this inaugural year, groups of 12 students will be added in years 2007, 2008 and 2009. A total of 48 students will receive $20,000 scholarships over seven years. The donation also includes $40,000 in scholarships for freshman prep classes and orientation. In this video, UA’s scholarship recipients express, in their own words, their appreciation to The Coca-Cola Foundation.
