Laird Named UA NAA Vice President

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Diedra Rice Laird of Opp has been named vice president of District 12 for The University of Alabama National Alumni Association for 2006-2007.
Laird graduated from UA in 1986 with a nursing degree. Since that time, she has been highly involved with the UA Alumni Association serving as Covington County board director, vice president and president (2000-2001), golf tournament chair and junior honors program chair.
Laird is also a member of the UA Parents Association, Baptist Church youth Sunday school teacher and children’s choir assistant director, coordinator of Compassionate Friends group and a volunteer for the American Red Cross.
Laird lives in Opp with her husband, Wesley, and two daughters: Laken, 18, and Leah, 15. She also owns and manages her own interior designing business, Designs by Diedra.
The UA National Alumni Association is divided into 16 districts within Alabama and six regions outside the state. Each is represented by a vice president who serves on the NAA Executive Committee and makes decisions concerning the organization and funding of a variety of programs and events to benefit alumni, students and the University. The National Alumni Association supports UA through the combined efforts of its volunteer leadership, the alumni staff and more than 29,000 active members.
