UA Speaker to Give Update on War Against Terrorism

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Students at The University of Alabama will gain insight into how the United States is doing in the fight against terrorism from UA graduate and terrorism expert Dr. David M. Zimov who will give several talks on campus.
Zimov, who manages African affairs at the U.S. Department of State in the Office of the Secretary of State as coordinator for counterterrorism, will make presentations open to the public on:
-“The Political Economy of Terrorism,” Monday, April 17 from 2-3:15 in 13 Bidgood (Dr. Walt Enders’ class)
-“Seeing the Forest: The Global War on Terror and the U.S. Government Response,” Tuesday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in 125 ten Hoor (lecture in auditorium)
-“International Aspects of Homeland Security,” Wednesday, April 19 from 4-5 p.m. in 213 AIME Building (honors seminar class).
In his current position, Zimov directs the Diplomatic Security Anti-Terrorism Assistance program and works with foreign governments to secure assistance and support for the U.S. in its counterterrorism efforts.
Zimov received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in finance, his master’s in history from UA, and his doctorate from the London School of Economics and Political Science in international history. After completing his graduate studies, he was an assistant professor of international relations/history at the University of Cincinnati and later at Northern Kentucky University. He has also taught at the U.S. War College and the Joint Military Intelligence College.
