TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Crossroads Community Center will host a grand opening celebration on Monday, March 27 from noon – 1 p.m. in 232 Ferguson Center (television lounge area).

The celebration will open with remarks from several UA administrators, including UA President Robert E. Witt. The program will also feature remarks from Mary Margaret Carroll, 2005-2006 UA Student Government Association president.

Following these comments, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the variety of cross-cultural programs and initiatives that Crossroads has introduced since its opening in November. Multicultural programs sponsored by other entities on campus, such as the UA Office of the Dean of Students and the UA Community Service Center, will also be featured.

The Crossroads Community Center was established in the fall to assist student organizations with multicultural issues and facilitate coordination of multicultural programs on campus. It is part of a collaborative effort of the UA divisions of student affairs, community affairs and academic affairs to meet needs identified last year by the University’s Multicultural Center Task Force.

The event will be open to the entire campus community and all are encouraged to stop in, enjoy food, music and door prizes, and take the opportunity to learn more about Crossroads.
