UA to Show ‘Rivers of Change’ Documentary During Women’s History Month

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – In honor of Women’s History Month, students, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to view the film “Rivers of Change: The Legacy of Five Unheralded Women in Montgomery and their Struggle for Justice and Dignity” on March 7 at 3 p.m. in The University of Alabama Ferguson Center Theater.
The “Rivers of Change” documentary captures the labors of five unknown women and their instrumental impact on the beginning and ending of the Montgomery bus boycott. The courage of these dynamic women led to the reversal of the U.S. Supreme Court decision on the segregation of public facilities. The film’s producer, William Dickerson-Waheed, will lead the audience in an interactive discussion at the conclusion of the screening.
This event is sponsored by the College of Education, Women’s Resource Center, Black Faculty & Staff Association, New College, Alliance for Women of Color, African- American Studies Department, Ferguson Center, Diversity Committee of College of Arts & Science, Crossroads Community Center, Campus Programming Council and the Women’s Studies Department.
