TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Student Government Association is hosting the first Capstone Market holiday shopping event on campus Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Ferguson Center Ballroom from 10 a.m-10 p.m.

The Capstone Market, which is planned to be an annual event, will raise money for book scholarships for UA students.

The event will feature a variety of area businesses on campus to sell their products to students, faculty, staff and community members in a marketplace atmosphere with shopping, free food, music, a gift wrapping area and door prizes.

“The SGA is trying to provide a service to University students and raise money for a great cause at the same time. This is one of the busiest times of the year and this is a good way for anyone to do all of their holiday shopping in one place,” said Jessica Juliano, UA’s SGA fund-raising committee chair.

The list of vendors already scheduled to participate in the Capstone Market includes: The Buzz, Corolla Yearbook, The Trunk, Letters, CS Company, Cute As A Button, AP Creations, Magoosa’s Pecans, The Locker Room, Theatre Tuscaloosa, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Alabama Outdoors, Fun Stuff, Bama Dollar, Candlelife, Terra Lane, Woods & Water, RUF Campus Ministries, Oz Music, University Supply Store, Snappy Tomato Pizza, New Life Art Inc., and Julie’s Hallmark.

The entrance fee to the Capstone Market is $3. Advance tickets will be available in the SGA office and at tables in the Ferguson Center; they will also be available at the door. Shoppers will be eligible to win door prizes including Pita Pit meals, Perfect Touch gift cards, a Chip Cooper photography book, a pair of shoes from the Locker Room, a pearl necklace and more.
