TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Challenge 21’s community politics team will facilitate a “community conversation” at The University of Alabama on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The discussion will focus on the impact of planned enrollment increases at UA on the University and Tuscaloosa communities.
The program will begin at 6 p.m. in the rotunda of Carmichael Hall on the UA campus.
Student organizers Christina Corley and Amanda McMillan invited Challenge 21’s community politics team to facilitate the meeting on campus as the first step in a plan to better engage the student body in campus decision-making. The discussion is open to students, faculty, staff and the Tuscaloosa community.
Discussion will focus on a variety of questions, including the impact of enrollment growth on such areas as academics, social activities, residential life, transportation, recreational activities, service and leadership activities, safety and security and financial costs.
The University of Alabama, a student-centered research university, is experiencing significant growth in both enrollment and academic quality. This growth, which is positively impacting the campus and the state's economy, is in keeping with UA's vision to be the university of choice for the best and brightest students. UA, the state's flagship university, is an academic community united in its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Alabamians.
