UA Hosts Guest Speaker Mark Regev

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences (C&IS) Student Executive Council, Alabama Friends of Israel, Caravan for Democracy and the Student Government Association have partnered to bring Mark Regev, chief spokesman for the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C., to campus.

On Friday, March 19, at noon Regev will address students, faculty and the community in 216 Reese Phifer Hall. He will be speaking about journalistic integrity and reporting on the Middle East; he will hold a question-and-answer session after his talk.

Regev, who received a bachelor’s degree in history and political science at Melbourne University, Australia, also holds a master’s degree in political science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as well as a master’s of science in management from Boston University.

Beginning in 1991, Regev served in various positions at the Foreign Ministry, including deputy chief of mission at the consulate general in Hong Kong, spokesman at the embassy in Beijing and at the Foreign Ministry’s Jordan division. Prior to joining the Foreign Ministry, he taught international relations and strategy at the Israel Defense Forces’ Staff College.
