TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Commemorating the one-year anniversary of The University of Alabama’s Survivor on the Quad, University Programs has announced the first public screening of the event’s documentary on May 1 at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Theater.

Last April, 20 UA students attempted to outwit, outplay and outlast their competitors in an effort to win the $1,000 grand prize. Just like the CBS Television series, the contestants faced daily immunity and reward challenges, as well as nightly tribal councils at Denny Chimes.

The documentary showcases the entire event. The film was directed, produced and shot by Bartley Powers and Dave Whitson. The executive producer was Clay Shannon.

Geoffrey Zuckerman of Cary, N.C., won the contest and has appeared on the CBS Early Show where the original CBS Survivor winner, Richard Hatch, featured Survivor on the Quad in a brief segment.

A reception will be held before the screening in the Ferguson Center Art Gallery at 6 p.m.

The University of Alabama, a student-centered research university, is experiencing significant growth in both enrollment and academic quality. This growth, which is positively impacting the campus and the state's economy, is in keeping with UA's vision to be the university of choice for the best and brightest students. UA, the state's flagship university, is an academic community united in its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Alabamians.
